Join clarinetist, Jake Meyer, for a week of Clarinet Boot Camp! Develop your technical skills, improve your practice habits, and learn the secrets of great clarinet playing! The week will conclude with a performance to show off all your new skills.

This class will teach you how to take notes on the page and bring them to life. Learn how to phrase, play with feeling, make the music more exciting, and add your own personality to the music. This class will inspire you to be more creative and have more fun when you play your instrument!

Brass Technique Camp
Instructor, Allyson Partin

Join instructor, Allyson Partin, for a week of exploring your brass instrument. Topics to be included are breathing & singing, articulation, EXTREME high and low registers and how to play in them correctly, and how to effectively play loudly and softly to create different colors and textures of sound. At the end of the week, we will have a Q&A and sharing time of what we all learned together and perhaps demonstrate with each other what we learned and what has helped us to grow!
Class participants must play a brass instrument!

Jake Meyer is the principal clarinetist of the Ocala Symphony Orchestra and is an active teacher and freelancer in the Twin Cities. Jake has worked with students of all ages and abilities, coaching many to the Minnesota All-State Bands and college music programs. He holds his Bachelor’s of Music from St. Olaf College and his Master’s of Music from Florida State University. Away from the clarinet, Jake enjoys reading, swimming, and podcasts.
Playing Tunes By Ear

For this class, students will be spending 2 days learning tunes by ear. For the Friday class, each student will share their favorite tune from the week with the group.
Open to ALL instruments!

-Allyson Partin is an active freelance French Horn teacher and performer in the Twin Cities. She plays in many diverse settings with local orchestras, bands and brass ensembles. She is especially excited to be a part of the Minnesota Horn Quartet, an exciting new chamber group.
-Allyson has an active teaching studio of students of all ages and playing abilities. She has over 10 years of teaching experience and has developed her teaching skills over that time. She now has a large studio with locations in Minneapolis, Plymouth and Inver Grove Heights.
-Allyson has a master’s degree from McGill University, and a Graduate Performance Diploma and Bachelor’s degree in horn performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. In addition to her studies at McGill and Peabody, Allyson also studied with Denise Tryon, teacher at Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, and Rene Pagen.
