Camp Description-
Children will create an original performance in one week using a play building model. Sets, costumes, script, props and characters will be created based on theme. The theme this August is "Ossian and the Land of Youth, an Irish Tale." Children will learn improv and acting techniques as well as character development. The original production will be performed in a free show on the last day of camp for family and friends. The show will also perform on stage at the Minnesota Irish Fair.
Sarah Kiani, camp director, has been directing and teaching theater with children for the past 28 years. Her roots began as an actor and writer in the Twin Cities where she worked with Stepping Stone Theater for Youth Development as an artist educator for 15 years. Sarah lived in Ireland for one year where she worked with the Dublin Youth Theater.
-Enchanted Forest Children's Theater (formally called Tir na nOg) has performed at the Minnesota Irish Fair for ten years and the Iowa Irishfest for 4 years. Sarah lived in New York City for 4 years where she expanded her theater training. In Orlando she formed Tir nanOg Children's Theater and taught classes in schools and directed original performances for 5 years. Sarah has directed and produced over 100 shows for and with children ages 3-18.
--Enchanted Forest Children's Theater is dedicated to creating original performances in the tradition of devising (otherwise know as "play building") where the actors create or re-tell original stories and build the play as they go. Children are validated and their creativity is expanded through this engaging process. Enchanted Forest Children's Theater mission is to inspire and encourage children of all backgrounds and abilities to grow and create through the magical world of theater.
--Sarah lived in Cedar Falls, Iowa for 6 years and was happy to be working with the children and families of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area with the Cedar Valley Community Theater at Oster Regent Theater. Sarah now lives in Hastings, Minnesota and is looking forward to establishing roots back in her home state and building partnerships in Minnesota.
